Gallery: 2nd Shooter shots

Gallery:  Second Shooter Shots

The primary role of my assistant is assist me to get great shots!
This might be by holding lighting, dragging gear, or simply driving between locations so I can bolt down a muesli bar!
But they also have the opportunity to score some amazing shots from alternative angles,
as well as taking additional photos to fill in the story when I can't be in two places at once.
All the images in this gallery have been taken by my assistants.
And may I take the opportunity to thank each of them for the tireless work they do in making me look good!

Let me share some of the advantages of having an assistant on second camera:

  • Having someone to drag my gear means I’m camera-ready all the time and less likely to miss that impromptu shot.
  • My assistant generally does the driving, giving me vital time to catch my breath and plan the next section of your shoot.
  • A knowledgeable assistant holding lighting and off-camera flash will enable a totally different look to your images, and is essential for glamour photography.
  • I simply can’t be in two places at once! Do you want me camped at the front of the isle capturing the look on your grooms face when he sees you walking towards him, or do you want me to get that amazing shot of the back of your dress as your train spills out behind you as you walk down the isle? Having a second shooter means you don’t have to choose!
  • I need to spend most of the ceremony focused to the front. A second shooter can turn and capture guest’s reactions, and follow the antics of young children in the front row!
  • A second shooter generally has a different length lens on their camera. This enables either wider angle or more telephoto shots, giving you more variety and different angles of the same events.
  • Often when I’m shooting the couple, I’ll ask the bridal party to stand behind me and ‘do whatever it takes to make them laugh’. So mayhem may be ensuing behind me but I miss all of it coz I’m focused on you. A second shooter can capture all that off-camera fun.
  • A second shooter also often gets the most exquisite natural shots. Try as I might, I can’t get the angles they can because you’re focused on me. So a second shooter may be 45degrees away from me, and when I’ve finished and put my camera down, you two have That Glance and my second shooter is able to snap it.
  • A second shooter is ideal for those paparazzi or photojournalistic shots of your guests chatting, laughing and generally enjoying the day.
  • They can take the time to step back and see aspects of a venue or location that I may have missed. I value the additional insight.
  • They add different ideas, perspectives and energy. A well functioning two-shooter team brings synergy beyond the sum of their individual work.
  • In over 10 years I’ve never had equipment failure, but having a second shooter with a second lot of camera gear, does bring reassurance should there ever be gear problems.
A Second Shooter is included with my Diamond Collection,
or may be added to your Platinum Collection for just $390.
